I'm working out some computer bugs while the Professor is in the kitchen of our tiny apartment, cooking my very first pigeon meal. Pigeon. For real. He called his mom for her recipe and now I'm going to HAVE to try it.
To me, eating pigeon is sort of like eating one of the seagulls we saw on the beach today. But... I'm about to get over that feeling.
I felt better about the prospect of fitting in here anyway today. I'm up for this.
This afternoon, we rode our bikes to the beach (even though I had to stop traffic for a bit while I pushed the scooter into a parking spot) and had a picnic. I made it to real destination!
The wind was cold and the rocks on the beach were hard, but we had a wonderful time. I'll post a picture of the view.
The silliest thing made me feel happy today.
At one point, one of the plastic bags I'd brought blew away and I had to chase it down the beach beside the Promenade des Anglais. Some Frenchmen who were walking their dogs cheered, "Allez, allez!" as I ran, gave up, ran again, and then jumped on the bag.
Triumphantly (because I'd entertained the locals -- somewhat like fitting in), I returned with the bag and offered the Professor some freeze-dried astronaut ice cream I'd stuffed in our backpack for dessert. My sister gave it to me for Christmas and I told him it was one of our favourite things to eat as children -- just like the real NASA astraunauts!
He didn't love it. But, I guess the fact that he tried my "traditional" food is another reason I'm going to have to embrace this meal. I'll let you know how it goes...
Freeze-dried astronaut ice-cream? I have never tried it. That's news to me! I'm sure your pigeon meal were delicious! Speaking of picnic, I haven't had one since elementary school?!
ReplyDeleteNice view of the Baie des Anges by the way.

I'm sure you can order the freeze-dried ice cream over the internet... but it's um... got more of a nostalgic taste than a good one.
