Baby brain and the colour of fall

I haven't been blogging lately because, simply, I've been distracted. The baby is constantly distracting, just as a cat walking around on your lap all day would be distracting, and that's just the physical part. Emotionally, I've also had a lot to think about. Over the past month, I've been trying to cram a bunch of research into my brain to prepare myself for the big day, which has included many baby-related concepts I didn't know before and a whole new French vocabulary I want to be sure is on the tip of my tongue once I reach the maternité at the hospital (ie: giving birth is l'accouchement and, if needed, an epidural is une péridurale).

On top of that, I've been busy writing since I'm sure this distracting baby will be even more distracting once it arrives and starts crying, pooping, giggling and doing whatever else babies do.

That said, I've decided to give the blog a little break so I can concentrate on my pre-life-with-baby projects. Le bébé should be here in under two months so that doesn't give me much time!

I did, however, remember to take my camera downtown on the weekend to snap a few photos. My baby books tell me that my body is now working on our little baby's brain so we're making sure to buy lots of fresh fish, fruit and vegetables. Here are some images from the Marché de la Libération in Nice and a few fall colours from up in the hills...

  2. Carmen: Thanks! I'll definitely post an update about giving birth IN FRENCH in the hospital in Nice! (Yikes!) Luckily, I'm supposed to get a view of the calming sea from the window.

  5. Anita: We've narrowed down the list of names, but are still waiting to see the baby's face before we make the final decision. Such a tough choice to make ... and it's one that you have to make for someone else. I have a new respect for all other parents who've gone through this process. Wow.

I'm still working on the diaper, crib and general newborn research, but I'll check out that book once I've got a handle on the poop and drool! Thanks for the info!
