Back with a new plan for France!

After a summer of very, very little internet access, but a ton of swimming and sunshine, the Prof. and I are finally back home in Nice.

For the last month or so, I've been very bad at keeping up with the blog. My dial-up at the cottage in Muskoka just wouldn't permit it. The easiest way to unplug over the summer: Move to a place with annoyingly slow online access, but with clear water, a dock, friends and a barbecue. Basic HTML email viewing just can't compare with casting a fishing line over the side of a canoe -- even if both activities, at first, appear to be about waiting. At the cottage, I'd rather spend my frustrating on-line time getting caught on bottom or with my line tangled in a tree than waiting 15 minutes for some crappy spam to open.

Over the summer, however, the Prof. and I did take quite a few pictures that I'll post once we return from our first back-in-France adventure. We're going camping along a canyon!

Some quick news I'll elaborate on once our vacation ends and we're back at work for the second week in September: The book is going well and nearing completion, I'm working on a few other books on France, food and the land of the French, we've decided to move (it's definite this time -- serious neighbourhood tours begin again!), and we're now past the marriage and into the being-married part of our lives (what does that mean? I'll explain in a week...).

I've also got a new plan for France and I'd love to hear what you think once I have a chance to sit down and explain it!

Back after school starts!

  1. Hi Kerry: Looks like you are into another new adventure! I can't wait to hear all about it! Being able to unplug (or forced to unplug) is indeed so liberating. I am a bit sad that the summer vacation is almost over (or over for me).

Anyhoo, I'm going to drop you an email this long weekend. Happy camping!

  2. Carmen: Glad to hear you enjoyed Muskoka. Hope you had some nice weather in Quebec (the winds were horrible when we flew out from Montreal!).

Have a great final few days of your vacation!

  3. Kerry: Sunday was really nasty when I was in Quebec City, not a soul on the street. I flew out from Montreal on Monday and it was alright.

I'm done with my vacation! Back to work already!!!

  4. Already back in France? It seems I saw you yesterday!

I'm sure you are glad to be back home though. Hope everything is okay ;-)

  5. Zhu: Yep! Already back in time for the beginning of school. Can't believe it. How have you handled all of this switching back and forth over the years? My brain always takes about a week to adapt ... culturally, not just in terms of the time change!
