As I've mentioned, we're now in olive season in Nice and the nets have come out everywhere. They're lying on the ground below the olive trees and draped in mid-air, all to catch the falling olives, which will mostly be used to make olive oil -- at least, that's what I've been told.
I've also mentioned that on our little hikes, the Professor and I found an olive tree that's 1000 YEARS OLD!! So yesterday, I went to the park and made a little video of it since I think it's so amazing. Why a video and not just a photo? I don't know! A simple photo would have been a lot easier because in the middle of my movie, a kid rode up on his dirt bike, parked it, and climbed up the tree so he could look in the little holes -- for what I'd guessed must be cigarettes he'd hidden from his parents. But, he was just exploring. I think it was the way he'd acted as though he owned the tree that had me jumping to conclusions. That said, while I'm editing this little BMX bandit out, I'll start by posting a simple photo -- which I ended up taking anyway, once the kid had climbed down.
