Lovely Awkward: A Year of Wine, Romance and Life Among the French

If you're looking for adventure...

Someone sent me this link the other day. It might not have exactly what you're looking for, but it might help you get your imagination going -- for a Christmas present (see my wacko attempt below) or to find a little romance for yourself. Don't forget that I met the lovely Professor on a hike in Quebec...

I really like that idea of an adventure shopping list, so, I'm going to start one -- beginning with the Lusk Caves, where the Professor and I met.

**This is NOT I list of things to do before you die or of things to accomplish before you're 35 or some such nonsense. It's just a list of adventures -- fun, not markers of success.

Any other Canadian contributions?

  1. Gift certificate for Deerhurst Resort at Huntsville, Ontario is what I got! I think that it would be perfect for the fall, perfect timing for the fall foliage...

My imagination brings me to some wild places in the Yukon Territory, where I can see the magical northern lights. Absolutely phenomenal and romantic, and isn't that quite an adventure???

  2. Ha! Deerhurst is near where my family is from. Beautiful place and the one I'll probably miss the most while I'm away.

My sister used to work at one of those Huntsville resorts, but now she runs adventures at a similar place out west:

You're right, Muskoka in the fall is amazing. But, maybe I'll at least get to come back in July. Teachers get the summers off, right?

You've seen these northern Northern Lights?

  3. Well, I'm from out west as well. I'll keep Fairmont Hot Springs in mind because I haven't really explored much in BC!

I wonder what it's going to be like in June at Deerhurst with the G8 Summit...

I assume you'll come back in Ontario for your "mini-vacation" next year even though you're going to be in France for the whole year?

I have never seen the Northern Lights before. That's why I need a little adventure myself. Have you?
