Romance and a bebe in France

Since I arrived in Nice, France in 2009, after making this leap across the ocean to spend some more time with the professor I'd just met, I've been discovering France along the Mediterranean in different ways. A large portion of my discoveries have been cultural, but I've also fallen in love with the landscape -- and one area in particular.

Our first trip on the motorcycle took us along the sea toward the place, but not quite there.

Then in 2010, that's where we discovered one of our favourite hikes, just before our marriage at the mayor's office in Nice.

And in 2011, we went back to one of the beaches there for my final pregnant swim.

It's fitting, then, that this is the spot where we found the name for our lovely new son, who was born in January.

We'll be heading out in that direction for Valentine's Day tomorrow night, with the baby. We've picked out a nice restaurant in Cannes where we think they'll let us change the bebe in a back corner. (We're still learning -- that's romance!)

Here's a map of the coast, starting in Cannes, for anyone who wants to try and figure where we got our son's name.

  2. Oh, there are names such as Alexandre and Paul and even Jean, to get a little old school French style. But how 'bout you pick something different like Maréchal (Juin or Joffre) but Vallauris. Oooh, that's extra special and so is Lucéram.

    Enjoy your evening out Kerry!
