French test -- the warning pamphlet

I still don't know very much about the visa interview I've got coming up this week, but I've received a pamphlet in the mail telling me a little of what the French have planned...

Apparently this interview is a "key element in your integration into French society," which means that I'll be welcomed in a group of newcomers and put through a series of tests: a medical exam, an individual interview to evaluate my level of French (yikes!), an information session on life in France, and some civic training (whatever that means).

And, after all of this, the pamphlet from the Office Français de l'Immigration et de l'Intégration (OFII) says I'll receive a "certificate of presence," which I'm guessing is a frameable piece of paper that will probe I then exist in this country.

I will then officially be here.

For anyone else who is thinking of going through this process:
Here's some information about the process in general.
Here is more information on the French test.

I'll have more info in the next few days, probably along with some exciting, new information about life in France. At least, I hope something exciting will come of all of this!

For now, I'm going over my verbs.

    Les administrations françaises sont compliquées
J'aurais aimé que l'administration française soit moins compliquée
Il eusse fallu que l'administration française soit moins compliquée...

  2. Am I supposed to say this to them right away or should I wait for them to ask me for my opinion? :)
