After waiting at a bus stop for an hour and a half on Friday, I'm now desperate for spring. The temperature here is about the same as it is in Ottawa most days, but in Ottawa the snow is melting they've got spring on the way and here, there's a dampness that lingers and sticks to your bones. I've gathered some evidence, however, that spring might be coming. Here's a trip to the grocery store...
These palm trees are always around, but now they look as though they're getting ready for something.
Blossoms! Even on a grey background, they look optimistic.
And, here's the highway, which isn't exactly spring-like (I think spring means all of the scooter riders will be going around in flip-flops), but it's interesting (and for me, scary) nonetheless. But it's the route to the food. Look how chilly it looks! And people here don't even have big coats! Everyone keeps expecting Canadians to be cold resistant, but I keep telling them that we have big winter coats, we turn the heat on and we drink a lot of hot chocolate!
OK, so I read in the news about this unusual cold snap in your part of the world???? Maybe a bit west of where you are...
ReplyDeleteI'm always amazed by people who can brave the cold without big winter coats! How can they do that? Remember me all bundled up in my Whitehorse picture! Crazy!
