Lovely Awkward: A Year of Wine, Romance and Life Among the French

Lovely Awkward: A Year of Wine, Romance and Life Among the French

If this were a story... where the heck is the turning point?

Someone just asked me what I thought my major conflict had been since I leaped into this adventure. I might have figured it out... but, man! Trying to search your own brain for that info can be hard. Or at least hard to admit.

So, what I've come up with is this: Since the beginning, I've been afraid that this passionate life I'd always dreamed of living will either be too hard, too unfamiliar, or too fleeting. I'm afraid I'll either give up or screw it up and then I'll have to go back with less than I had before I left. I was bored before I left, but still had the hope that I'd seize this opportunity if ever it came along.

On a more practical note, Florida is cold. The news says the city is trying to find places for the homeless to sleep and we're about to cover the plants for the night.

  1. Whatever you do, you definitely won't go back with less than you had before.. You will have gained so much experience and culture etc etc...
    Enjoy your new adventure!

  2. You're right, you're right. But I always kind of liked hanging on to the dream an exotic life! I guess I'll have to give that up if I want to see how that life really works.
